Cloud computing as a whole is a broad term used to describe and define numerous services which are provided to clients over the internet. Even though CloudComputing has become the norm of today’s IT industry, most people still don’t know what it represents or how CloudComputing is actually working. To completely understand the idea and working behind CloudComputing, one needs to understand what On-demand computing is. On-demand computing also referred to as CloudComputing is a term used for internet based computing services, where shared data, resources and information is provided to computers and different internet enabled devices on demand. In other words, clients all over the world are provided different solutions to store, and process their data on third party data center by granting access to configurable computing resources which range from servers, storage, software applications and more.
Working of CloudComputing:
There are three ways in which CloudComputing works Infrastructure as a service, Platform as a service and Software as a service. Clients can choose any of these three services depending on their business model and requirements. Larger organizations tend to prefer Infrastructure as a service, as they want the freedom to build their own platforms for software applications. In this type the infrastructure such as virtual servers and storage is rented from a third party. Small Enterprises however choose Platform as a service, as they choose to avoid the development cost for developing specific platforms. Software applications are built on platforms provided by the third party, who also provide service and maintenance of these software applications. There are namely three types of deployment models for CloudComputing, Private clouds, public clouds and hybrid clouds. Private clouds tend to function and operate solely for a single organization and services are rendered over their personal network. An organization has to invest heavily on infrastructure and hardware for a private cloud. Public cloud is when services and resources are rendered openly for the public to use over the internet. Hybrid Cloud takes into account two or more different types of clouds to render services to the clients. These can either be two private clouds, private and public cloud, and two public clouds bound together and offering services on a multiple deployment model.
